Maternity Shoot

It was a real pleasure to photograph my wife and our first child in our flat in Barcelona, just a week before the delivery. Looking out onto Plaza Comercial, where we have shared so many good memories, seemed like the perfect backdrop.

In this shoot, we focused on small details: the way she rested her hand on her belly, the gentle silhouette against the window light. I kept the approach formal and posed but unobtrusive, letting natural moments unfold throughout the 30 minute shoot. That made the image timeless — portraits that will remind us later, of the anticipation and tenderness right before our family grew.

Photographing someone you love adds a layer of trust and ease that shows in the photographs. For me, it was an opportunity to capture not just how she looked, but how we felt — calm, connected, and full of expectation in a place we have enjoyed so much. These frames will be a personal record of that final week together before meeting our child, and a small archive of the quiet magic that precedes major life changes.

We’ll be heading to Menorca for 6 months next month. A peaceful Mediterranean island for Olivia to spend her first six months on this magical planet. I’ll photograph many more memories for us as a family and I’ll also capture special moments for my customers during the busy summer season on Menorca, Mallorca and Ibiza.

When we return to Barcelona in October, we’ll have renovated our new family home which overlooks the cathedral. It’s a time in our lives and we’re looking forward to what the future holds. Happy 2026 to all our customers who are also having an exciting year ahead.
